Lakeshore Park Trailday Updates

Postby WallEyed » March 27th, 2005, 12:19 pm

April 2 and 3, 9:00 am Lakeshore Park

We just finished up our last scouting mission before the big trailday weekend. Claudia, Scott, Pat and Adam walked the trail with me finalizing the flags, and tweaking the lines. It should be cool but it is going to be A LOT of work.

On Saturday plan on parking at the access road off of 12 Mile road. This access road is located off of 12 Mile road West of Novi Road. Coming from Novi Road, there will be a rough, gravel road just before (East of...) the railroad tracks that cross 12 Mile. Follow the gravel road back and find a place to park! After the work is done we may relocate to the park for the picnic on Saturday.

On Sunday, we'll just park at the normal trailhead parking area!

I'm putting together a list of volunteers to determine which section everyone will work on. If you haven't already done so, please email me to let me know if you are coming, and on which day.

It looks like we'll need a variety of tools. If you have any of the following, please bring them:
Loppers
Leaf Rake
Hedge Trimmers
Shovel (not a flat nosed one though)

The following safety equipment is highly recommended:
Heavy Work Gloves
Good Boots
Eye Protection

Let me know if you have any questions!

Dave

One more thing to keep in mind, this trailday weekend will be a great opportunity for non-residents to earn their free pass to Lakeshore Park this year. Non-residents will need to have 10 hours in before Memorial Day to earn a pass. Hours from last year will not count towards this years pass.

This is a great deal that the city is offering, as it will normally cost $4.00 to enter the park if you are not a resident.

Again, please shoot me a message if you are planning on coming this weekend so we can plan accordingly!

You'd get there just in time for lunch! Depending on the weather and our motivation, we'll probably be close to wrapping it up around then. We could really use you on Sunday though!

I'm hoping to make it out this weekend. If I have to work, I'm going to try to get an afternoon shift so I can make it out there.

Another update!

On Saturday we'll plan on parking at the 12 Mile Road Access road (see first post), but on Sunday we'll park at the normal trailhead parking area.

Thanks!

Hi Dave.
I am planning on being there on Sunday somewhere between 10:00 and 12:00.
I will probably have a 5 year old with lots of energy along with me.
