North Country Trail work day; August 28th at 9AM

Postby Todd Scott » August 18th, 2004, 12:05 pm

The Spirit of the Woods NCT Chapter is doing trail work on a section of the North Country Trail that's open to biking. Please consider attending this work day, being a good ambassador for mountain biking, and help keep the trail well-maintained. Details are below. Be forewarned that some members of this group are fervently anti-bike. I'll send schwag to any cyclists who attend the work day! Contact me if you do.

There is a work day scheduled for August 28. WE NEED YOUR HELP- several work days this summer have been very poorly attended. Any effort you can make to work on our trail will be greatly appreciated!

We will meet at the trail head on River Rd. just North of Coates Hwy. at 9:00am. To reach this trailhead turn north off of M-55 on Highbridge Rd to Brethren. Turn east at Brethren on Coates Highway and proceed to River Road and turn north. (If you reach the Red Bridge parking on M-55 you have gone just a little too far.) We will then go South on River Rd across Coates Hwy. to the camping site where we will park. It is on the west side of River Rd. Their will be pink and yellow ribbon tied to the trees and a sign on a pie plate if you are late. Parking will be around the camping area or on River Rd. We will work on the trail to the North from this area.

If you would let Ed Morse ( or Ed Chappel ( know if you are coming it would be great, but not necessary.

There will be an Executive Committee meeting Aug 26, at 7pm at the Chittendon Center in Wellston. These meetings are open to all. Elections are coming up in September (the 9th... to be held at the Mason County Library in Scottville at 7 pm). If you have any interest in taking an office we'd love to hear from you. Although membership is good, we need to bolster our core group a bit!
