On September 10th, the DNR is pairing up with the Department of Human Services for a foster families event. This event is designed to make the situation of children meeting their foster families less awkward, and help them bond over recreational activities. They hope that the families create new memories together, and help them continue going to the state parks and recreation areas in Michigan. There is going to be a variety of activities for the families to try throughout the day, so they can try a little of everything.
The MMBA Mountain Kids will be bringing out the bike trailer for this event, and letting the families mountain bike on the trails at Bald Mountain. There is a bike trail right by the beach where the event is being held, and a space for the bike trailer to be parked.
If you are able to take part in the event, it is being held at Pontiac Lake Recreation Area. The time is either going to be from 1-5pm or 1-6pm. We need riders to assist the DNR and help size kids on the bikes and escort them and their families around the park.
