There will be a Rolling Hills Trail Work Day on Saturday 7/9 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Pizza and drinks to be provided afterwards for trail workers.
We will be continuing the general trail maintenance from the last work day in early June...mowing grassy sections, trimming overhanging branches and shrubs, weed-wacking and removing some climbing poision ivy vines as well as clearing debris from the fallen tree on the west fence line. I plan to bring a weed-wacker, a push mower, a grass rake, pruning shears, hedge shears and a lopper. If you have any of the same (except the push mower), please bring them along. Please come compared for heat, bugs and poison ivy. It's recommended that you wear a long sleeved shirt, long pants & good work shoes, use work gloves and bring plenty of water or other drink for the heat/humidity.
RHP is part of the Washtenaw County Parks. As such, there is normally an entrance fee ($5 for Washtenaw residents, $8 otherwise). However, RHP management is waiving the entry fee for trail workers this week. Just let the gate attendee know that you are at RHP for MTB trail maintenance work. Rolling Hills Park is located in Ypsilanti Township on Stony Creek Road about 3 miles south of I-94. See the MMBA Trail Guide for specific directions.
Look for the Saturn Vue with the MMBA Trail Crew sign in the trail head parking lot. Look forward to seeing you at RHP this coming weekend. If you plan to come out on Saturday, please let me know in advance so I have a good head count for work planning and the pizza. Thanks in advance.
