Stony Creek Clean up trailday - April 16th

Postby wingzz » February 28th, 2011, 7:05 am

There will be a mountain bike trail clean up & maintenance day at Stony Creek Metropark on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Trail maintenance will include trail bed grading on eroded trail sections and tree trimming. Participants will meet at the trail head near the parking lot A at 9 AM. Participants need to wear sturdy shoes, work gloves, safety glasses, and carry water to drink. Tree loppers would also be appreciated. Rain day is Sunday April 17. Participants will need to have a daily park pass. For further information, please contact Mike Moss, 248-670-4553.

NO NEED FOR A CHAINSAW!!!
We will be done by early afternoon but as always during the year, you are free to go out and TRIM back the growth that impinges on the trail, just let me know any hours you spend out there so I can log it
again please no chainsaws

We have a list of projects that we'd like to get done on this trailday. Something for everybody.
Everything from bench-cutting a short section of new trail (Re-route) to simple trail "sweeping".
Make a family day of it and walk the trails while clearing debris, or help with the bench-cutting.
If enough people show up, we'll split up into teams and get it all done at once.
A wheelbarrow or two will be helpful with the work we want to get done in the Pines as well as up on top of Mt Shelden. Simple rakes, loppers, and folding saws will be fine for the trail sweepers.
The bench-cutting crew will be utilizing Mcleods, Pulaskis, pickaxes, shovels, and garden rakes. The trailer has a few of each, but bring what you've got if you can.
You volunteers are the most important equipment though, so show up eager to work even if you don't have any tools. There is always extra equipment to use.

Pete.

You can count on Michelle (aka; Crash) and I to be there. We'll have to keep an eye on her so she doesn't try to sneak off and move that log she tripped on!

I'm going out on a limb and cancelling Saturday's trailday due to the weather report.

Re-scheduled for Sunday. Same place and time.
