Just got back from riding they yellow loop and the trail is good shape with only a few muddy spots. We did not ride the blue (seasonal) loops so I am not sure about those. The new return trail should DEFINITELY NOT BE RIDDEN. I would suggest getting out and riding today before the rain.

FWIW, the Seasonal Loops are fine too. A couple soft spots down in the floodplane, but nothing bad.

On the upside, tonight's forecast is for .1" or so, so it may not be enough to cause problems with trails.

Rode the yellow loop with my son yesterday, surprisingly good conditions! His first ride of the year was fun. Also got to try out the new bike rack- count this as a plug for Kuat Sherpa!

I walked the new section to see what is like. The new section is in no way ridable. It is so wet that a family of ducks were setting up light house keeping in a small pond located in the center of the trail. There were deer and raccoon tracks along side jogger tracks.
That section of new trail might be ridable by the end of June.
The rest of the trail is in grate shape as reported above.

How is the trails looking? I am wanting to go ride this trail for the first time, but want to make sure that it is ridable before I trek down form Port Huron.

Wait a few week for the seasonal loop to dry. If you wait you can also ride both CRT. If you can't wait for the seasonal loop to dry, it is possible to reverse ride the seasonal Loop. Be sure make noise approaching the blind corners. Don't even think that the new section of River Bends will be dry enough to ride. It is a long way to drive unless the whole trail can be ridden.
If you want to ride both River Bends and CRT and ride between the two, consider parking the small park on Van Dyke just north of Clinton River -south of M59. That park's John should be open by then. It is a good half way point.

Well, things are improving out at River Bends as of Thursday May 2nd.

There are 5 trees down that need to be cut out.

Here are a few photos of a few problem spots. I do not know if the trail will be ridable by this weekend but because of these spots alot of work will need to be done.

and none of these are from the newest section which is a disaster right now.

Looks like I won't be heading out there for a ride after work.

Welcome to River Bends on a typical spring day. :\

Rode most of yellow this morning. All of the standing water is gone, but the muck and damage remains. 90% in good shape, the other 10% will probably need to wait for this weekend. Some places had passable lines, others were hike-a-bike. This first downhill into the seasonal route still leads to the standing water as above. Definitively not ready for primetime.

Mostly fine. Several soft spots. A few widely scattered mud pits. Generally, the lower you went, the more often you hit a bad spot. A few were hike-a-bike-worthy. The rain and cool temps will not help. :(
