Owasippe Chief wrote:Yes the long loop is the medium loop with a connector to the "Old" Blue Trail. This loop is almost the same as the Time-Trial course that Tailwind used in 2007 & 2008. This week we are finishing up some new single-track which will become the start of all three loops. This will eliminate a two-track and sandy steep downhill. This new section will be ridable and hopefully marked for Saturday's riding.

Cool, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for the new trail...will it be near the start of the trail past the bathroom that you mentioned above? :?:

Yes start past the bathrooms & old baseball field (near 3rd base), go through the 1st road crossing and then look for pin flags to the left of the trail. Hope to have the carsonite sign posts up Friday or Saturday morning also.

A new Single-Track beginning to all three loops is cleared & ready to ride. Carsonite Signs not up yet but section is pin flagged. Start at the old baseball field go backwards on the trail (trail is two-way until the new single-track beginning), veer left at the orange pin flags just after the 1st two-track crossing. If you get to the canoes you have gone too far! DO RIDE NOT RIDE TRAIL BACKWARDS (COUNTER CLOCKWISE)!

Other notes:
1. WEAR A HELMET!
2. The Trails will close for the summer Boy Scout Season this Saturday June 9th at dusk and will re-open August 18th at dawn. DO NOT RIDE THE TRAILS DURING THIS TIME! It is a privilege granted by the landowners for us to ride during the Boy Scout "offseason". Please respect that, so we can continue to enjoy the beauty of Owasippe on a Mountain Bike!

Thanks,

Doubled up on the middle & outer loop today - awesome trail. I think gtrowbridge is right - there's so much potential for this system. The steep bench-cut section on the outer loop recalled memories from WV. Excited to ride it again in August!

Had a blast out there today! Very nice trail system, glad we had the chance to get out there today before it closes for the summer. Big thanks to the people doing the trail work out there and to the Chief for pointing us in the right direction this morning.

Ugh!... Your killing me!... Did not know it closed for the summer! Taking a weeks vacation in the area and was going to bring the bike to ride out there :(
Are there any other trails close by that are similar?... Help a fella out! Not familiar to the area....

This place seems to be getting popular. Every time I would ride there a while back, there might be one, two or no cars in the parking lot. I'm curious to see how many cars will be there when I ride it in August.

The only trails I know of nearby are Luton north of Grand Rapids, and Bass River east of Grand Haven.

North Country Trail at M-20 (NW of White Cloud) is a nice section of trail and it's a reasonable distance from Owasippe.

Is everything is a go for the "fall" re-opening on Saturday, Aug 18th. Would there likely be lots trail blocking dead fall? I need to puts some trail time in anyways to keep the karma in balance.

Weather permitting on the 18th, I will be setting sail from the lower east side of the mitten.

What is the earliest we can show up at Owasippe on saturday? I have to drop my daughter off at Grand Haven for a V-ball tourney at 7:30 and then will head up.
