Thinking of preriding the course Friday for Sundays race. Does the trail drain well? If it stops raining tonight would the trail be rideable by Friday afternoon? Long drive, don't want to make the drive for a mud fest!!

Ruby missed most of the rain today. I just completed 2 laps and its got its muddy spots and the river is higher than normal (hike-a-bike even on race day). The bulk of the rain for the area is coming from 7ish to midnight.

Come race day on Sunday the trail will be fine!

Pre-riding Friday night is your call. I don't want to discourage anyone from riding the trail but it will still be a bit muddy in areas. If you want to come out just to get a feel for the trail thats fine. If you want to do race pace laps...I would be cautious on Friday.

Hope to see you this weekend!

Looks like Ruby did not get the amount of rain I saw in my neck of the woods last night and this morning. The only real greasy spot I had any issue with was the switchbacks before the big downhill on the other side of the creek. There's a few mud spots in flat areas where you would normally expect, but those were easy to pick a line through. The creek was about an inch below my hubs on my 29r, I don't plan on riding through the creek tomorrow, need my bottom bracket and hubs for Kewwenaw Chain Drive next week. Most of the trail is dry.

My only complaint about Ruby was getting there and back. I have a serious case of "Orange Barrel Fever" 696 is seriously messed up. Going there I took 23 to 69, and 69 going east was nasty in some areas, but it did move. I may just take 696 to Telegraph to Square Lake connector to 75 to get to 69 tomorrow. Those of you driving up tomorrow with a long drive give yourselves at least an extra 1/2 hour of drive time.

I fixed one section by the outhouse hill. Looks like someone tampered with a root and pulled it up so that it was standing 90-degrees, it was about a foot or so long. I had a pocket knife on me sharp enough to saw it loose. Really bad location, something that would easily take out a rear deraillure.

As of this past Sunday July 5th:

The lower ridge trail behind the campsites along the river on the front side are muddy, but rideable on the edge of the trail. The other spots that usually hold mud are muddy. Not bad overall. The river is down to about 8" To 14". If you are BILLY BAD *beep* you can ride both crossings. I would recommend the hike-a-bike approach!

Overall the trail is in great shape. A small down tree on the back side along the river/beach, but very visable upon the approach. You can ride over the tree.

Enjoy and be safe!

When do you plan to ride? A group of us usally pedal out there on Tuesday nights!

Every Tues at 6 bells! We do multiple loops at about 30-40 minutes each.

On average 3-7 people show. Pretty laid back group nothing to serious. This year has been tough with all the rain, etc. July and Aug should be good months! :)

To confirm if the ride is on you can check here prior to leaving or setting plans.

As of this past Tuesday night the 14th the trail is in great shape. The lower ridge behind the campsites right on the river is bit muddy and tore up, but rideable.

Ride and enjoy!

The river is about 8"-12" deep at this time. The single track across the river is FAST!

The trail won't be rideable for a while yet, but our first trail day of the year is scheduled for this Saturday, the 10th, at Ruby Campground. This will be a basic spring clean-up to get the leaves off the trail, remove any downed limbs, and some minor trail repairs. Meet up at the pavilion by 9am. We'll work until around noon, then grill some hotdogs for anyone who wants to stick around. Bring rakes, loppers, hand saws, or what ever you have. Thanks.

Trail day went well. The river was up so we didn't make it to the other side, bu the dry side is in good shape. I would say rideable with a few pretty muddy spots, but those are the usual spots. Much better shape than years past. Keep in mind, the campground doesn't open until mid-May, but the locals are usually riding there before that.

Columbus park is northeast of Richmond. Take Gratiot north of 32 Mile Rd, then turn left on Bauman Road.

Added a little new trail at Ruby over the last week, about 400-500 feet or so. Also rerouted a couple badly eroded sections so it should flow a little better now.

There's a trail day out there this weekend, Saturday the 24th. Meet up at the pavilion at 9am. The main focus will be to cross the river and clean that side of the trail up. Don't worry about getting wet, there's a large tree down across the river that's pretty easy to walk across.

Hot dogs, chips and pop will be available when we're done.

Had a great trail day today. Raked the wet side of the trail, rerouted a steep, rooted section, and added a great new section at the top of Lance. The trail is in great shape right now, but I'm sure the rain will change that tonight and tomorrow. I would say let it dry out for at least a few days after the rain before heading out there.

Hey Guys, Sorry if this question is Poorly thought out, I'm new the the MMBA / Forum. But I'm from the P.H area. An now I bask in all that is single track riding here in Oakland County. As I was tooling on the Bing Maps website I was wondering, Is it at all possible the stretch some single track though all of that scenic forest along the Black River. From say Beard and WildCat( Dorsey House) up through to Yale rd., or Comstock area... or even more ambitious in to Sanilac. From the "birds eye" view there seems to be some kind of trails though there. I can't find any info on the land though. Is it State or St. Clair County land... or Both? Is this an idea that could be kicked around by u guys up there. It would be nice to have a bit more than Ruby up there or bigger than the coming Columbus Park?
