Sounds good. In fact, we bought our bikes from Scott, and I didn't put 2-and-2 together.

Thanks for the update!

And wow: I didn't know people still used words like quagmire, lol.

Here's hoping for a dry-spell...

Munson conditions...

Postby scott » June 9th, 2006, 7:22 pm

The quagmire is almost dried up!!!!! Went out tonight and cut a bunch of trees that were down. The Front trail is good to go. The back is soft in alot of spots. Bugs are bad!!!!!

Just rode Munson on Friday and it was in good shape. I

enjoyed the ride. Just curious, I am new to mountain biking and first time out at Munson. I rode about 3.6 miles of wooded trail and a few other miles of grass trails. Are there more wooded trails than that or do people just ride it more than once?

I hiked the front trail with my family last night. I pulled three 3-4 inch dia or so trees that had broken and fallen over the trail. They were too long and held off the ground by other stuff to let them drop to the ground. Although my raking from last weekend is not apparent anymore, it's actually good for the few mushy spots that are out there.

Also, there is a small "river" across the trail between the parking lot and the trail start. It's about 12-16 inches across in the middle and really soft and muddy in spots along there but nothing to deter you from heading to this trail.

PS not sure how the back section is, my kids can't walk that much mileage yet.

Rode the trail last night. The entire trail is in good shape, nice and tacky, but getting back there is messy. Lots of standing water in the meadow. like Rod says.

Rode last night.

Trail 1: Great condition, a few muddy spots.
Trail 2: First 200 feet or so partially underwater in spots, rest of the trail was great with a couple muddy spots.

UNFORTUNATELY, the field leading up to trails is muckier then heck and the field leading out of the back loop is mostly submerged in water.

AVOID this trail until it freezes consistently again!

My boys and I rode into the front trail just to the first bridge. Very soft and still has mud pits in spots. We turned around and rode back out.

I'd stay out for a while until it firms up a bit more. That mud will stick like glue to your bike.

On a side note, some numbnut in a truck decided to drive down the main outer walking trail and rutted it up. Super bumpy ride back to the first trailhead now. They also took out the "no motor vehicles" sign. jerks!

Postby scott » June 15th, 2007, 6:48 am

I was out last night and cleaned the last of the back trail at Munson. Cut up all of the trees that were down. I cleaned the front trail a couple of weeks ago. The trail is DRY so we all can do night rides now!!!!!

Rode Munson Park today

Postby victors » July 26th, 2007, 2:15 pm

and it was in decent shape. Please take off the "avoid" that is on there. The southwest loop was in great shape. There were some tree leaves/branch hanging down about 100 yards in and only a few minor weeds in the way throughout. The northeast loop was a little more overgrown, but still in decent shape. It wouldn't hurt to go through it and cut out some growth in both loops. Overall, a good ride.
