Busted out a bunch of stuff this morning. I ended up taking my mower to the park to tackle all the tall grass. I cleared the beginning of the East River trail up to the Pines and up to the two track. Cleared the open field that connects the north side of the park to sections 1 - 4 and opened up the beginning of section 1 coming from the north side. Also trimmed up the beginning and end of the North Trail where I had already trimmed a week or so ago. I will try to knock out a little more tomorrow morning. I am hoping to get a better idea of what the park looks like on tonights ride.

Reminder Monday night ride leaves from the Museum parking lot at 6:30pm, all riders welcome.

Awesome!!! Thanks, Jake. While browsing craigslist, I stumbled upon this:

Craftsman weed whip

Not sure if it's still available, but might be worth while to check out. Maybe get a few people in on it to buy it? I'm in.

Just called, it's still available.

That's a pretty good deal if it runs. A new one runs just over $400 from sears. I saw a DR trimmer on craigslist, but it's $350. I wonder if the park would buy it?? They put money toward one before may be worth asking.

A little off topic, but is anyone in the Jackson area planning on doing the TTC this year? I was thinking about it, and have wanted to for a few years, but haven't done so yet.

I will be riding it, it's a good time. I thought I read the worst part, the lakeland section which was all sand and full of hoof prints and pooh has been paved, that makes it much easier section to ride.

I want to do it, but my right arm is still giving me fits from trimming the trails. I know I have 1-1/2 weeks for it to heal up, which also means I wouldn't be able to help trim the trails. Decisions, decisions.

I just got done riding most of the trails and I could not tell that there was anything done to Probert. Was there? Someone from the CCC said they did, but I didn't see it.

When I check it out there was a small path at the beginning that looked like someone ran a mower through, but that was it.

I saw you out there riding today I passed you on my motorcycle over by the driving range trail. I was out there this morning and spent a few hours working on the driving range. Didn't make it too far I ended up folding my mower blade in half.

Yeah, that was all I noticed on that trail too. That is really sad.

So that was you on the motorcycle? Nice bike! Sucks about the mower blade. The trail did look nice, though. I am going to give my arm a few more days to heal and probably get back out there on Labor Day. It's supposed to be quite a bit cooler, which will be nice.

I ran into Dan at the museum trailhead. He was leaving the trail as I was heading in. I don't know if he knew it was me. I just nodded.

He was probably riding that trail, because it's one of the few that is cleared.

Someone cleared the downed trees on tunnel. There was 2 or 3. Thanks!

I am going to clear a couple of places tomorrow. The major overgrowth on Probert where it's kinda uphill and rocky. And the area after the new trail that someone cut on 3-4, where the down tree hovers above the trail.

I'm planning to ride Ella Sharp for the first time either tomorrow or next weekend. I'm checking out the map but don't quite understand the best way to connect the various trails (1, 2, 3, 4, D, M, S, T, P, H, N). Is there a recommended way to string all the trails together (preferred order perhaps)? Do they all connect to each other or do you have to ride the park roads to get from one loop to the next?

Thanks for any advice.

There is no loop that connects the sections together. The park roads break up the sections to much. I have a couple of preferred routes. 1: North, east river, driving range, probert, hedgerow, schoolhouse, tunnel and the museum. 2: museum, schoolhouse, hedgerow, driving range (backwards), pines, north.

I typically skip sections 1-4 just because I don't like them, but route 2 would easily link to 1-4 after exiting the north section.

What time are you thinking about riding I may be able to show you around depending on the time?

The overgrowth on Probert and part of the 3-4 trail is cleared.
