Okay, how many of them were broken?

Can we rig claymore mines to them next time?

at least the first 2 but I think the 3rd was broken aswell. I should have looked at the four wheeler for damage or a yellow smudge. I also was surprised at the amount of garbage illegaly dumped throughout the park.

3 were broken. 1 was dismounted from its base, 2 remain connected by 'threads' of fiberglass. Sorry, the township does not permit land mines- but I like your idea. Let's talk more!

If you were playing CLUE, the culprit is likely the JACK-ASS, with the 4-WHEELER, in the GRASSY AREA.. at Hickory Glen Park. :D He left tire and foot marks and probably finger prints too.. on the sign .. go figure.

Rode the trail yesterday. Disregarding the signage, there are some large trees down. Any trail work planned soon, before the trails get totally messed up?

Hi Sue :D

Do you like the new signs? I thought we got most of the downed trees, where did you run into them?

Hope to get a trailday in b4 the snow... at lease one anyway .. did you find the new reroute at ~ the 3 1/2 to 4 mile marker :D How about the new log pile in the north section? Be care on that one :!: :!: :!:

Commerce is great in the rain

Postby rockymtn » December 7th, 2004, 10:28 am

It is remarkable how well Commerce holds up in the wet weather. I rode it Saturday after the thaw and the trail was in great shape the only mud on the entire trail is at a low spot near the river that is muddy in the middle of the summer. If you are looking for a place to ride while the other trails drain, this is the place.

p.s. The trail description needs to be updated. It says after you ride the back section across the floating bridge that you should ride the blacktop back to the parking lot. Newcomers would miss the entire section to the east of the blacktop and possibly the last mile with all the trenches. The new signage helps but if you are flying down the blacktop you might miss the entrance back into the woods.

Rockymtn is right - the trail drains well but its not quite ready to ride .... yet. Jeff and I did some work in a couple of spots today and the sections that are shaded by trees are somewhere between frozen solid or were sticky with mud at the surface.

Judging from the tire tracks at the trailhead which quickly disappear, it seems that most riders are staying off the trail during the thaw - and that's much appreciated.

NOVI PLUG: :D I'll be at Novi (Lakeshore Park) trailday this weekend and I hope to see you there !

Walked much of the trail today and believe its ready to ride. Please avoid standing water within first 2.5 miles and chronic muddy section after that. Otherwise should be "All dry / mostly dry."

Commerce rides and trail work

Postby dhteacher » April 3rd, 2005, 4:18 pm

I am looking for people to ride commerce after work. Now that we have better weather and daylight savings time. I don't know the trail very well and would love some help plus meet some new riders. Also, is there any trail days scheduled yet?

WooHoo! :D

Rode The Hick today and the trail is in great shape! Almost the entire trail has been raked, so it is easy to follow the trail. Nice to spin out on some single track. Enjoy everybody.

p.s. dhteacher, I ride out there alot and would be willing to take you on a tour. I am doing a road ride tomorrow, but might be able to meet up with you Tuesday night.
