The trail was nice. Big tree down at 4.2 miles in after the small log pile. Road workers were cutting back and pushing over dead trees from the road and it came down the hill. I didn't have my chain saw with me. Maybe this weekend if someone else doesn't get it first.

It is pretty awesome back there right now. Very fast with excellent grip.

I pushed a little too hard, so you'll see the body mark and smashed bushes where I went down.
...section just before you go through the center of that live tree with the split trunk.

Rode Hickory Glen today, and I kinda think that there should be a trail day for maintenance. With all the rain the brush is encroaching on the trail. Could definetely use some attention.

There should be a trail maintenance day. I would rather ride Poto on a kid's tricycle with no wheels than go to the Hick right now. The hundreds of face slappers, traction-killing debris, and the shoddy state of several of the features have had me fly right by on my way to Milford/Island Lake. I have a hard enough time keeping my aerobic on this trail without all the issues. Not worth the time to ride right now. I plan to get out there at the beginning of next week and at least cut back the overgrowth. If not for the overtime, I'd have went out there already.

Thanks for the input guys.....I'll see what can be done with getting a day scheduled however with memorial day next weekend and the chapter benefit Milford Trail Challenge the next, it may take a little while to get a good open weekend where we don't have a conflict....add in my personal schedule and it gets even harder. May try and get out this week and see what I can get done...probably in Wednesday/Thursday evening timeframe.

Feel free to get out there with some loppers if you fel so inclined. Every little bit helps and lopping isn't something that takes an organized trail day to do.....make sure to go to the MCMBA website and log any hours you do so we can show the land managers what we do on our trails.

Did some hand pruning and lopping with the kids (now owe them a DQ) in the Disney section - the eastern-most section. Not done, however its much improved.

I logged my hours logged here --> http://site.mcmba.org/index.php/get-inv ... teer-hours :D

Thanks Apps. I wanted to introduce myself but didn't want to stop you guys. I plan on going out on Sat. am and I was going to take loppers and just start at the trail head and take out any slappers. I wasn't going to do weeds just the trees and bushes hanging into the trail. Don't know what the power scythe but it seems self explanatory. Are you doing the low stuff? Thanks very much for helping keep the Hick in great shape.

Big thanks to Loren, Dave and Brian for coming out tonight and helping clean up the trail....hopefully it's noticeable....there's still plenty of trimming/weed whacking to do if anyone wants to do some work before we get a trail day organized.

Dean...no problem...feel free to say hi whenever you see me out there....face slappers are the big thing to get taken care of...thanks for the help!

Walked/rode the whole thing cutting back face slappers. Can't wait to ride it.
