Downed trees should all be gone now. Also did some raking with a small crew today, but the middle section of the trail is tough to follow due to leaves. ..

Trail condition?

Postby Spinwheel » December 21st, 2005, 11:25 pm

I haven't been out to the trail lately, anyone have a trail-condition report? Any tire tracks? Downed trees, ATV's? Anything?

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

I have snowshoed the trail a couple times in an effort to get it to pack down. Walked the first two miles and the last mile with no trees down. The snow is too light to pack down well. I tried to ride Tuesday and made it about 15 feet on the singlespeed before falling over. The snowshoes and hikers are not enough to pack it down. Maybe the warmer weather here at the end of the week will make it better.

Frickin ATVs are completely terrorizing the park. They have been blazing through the woods, knocking over everything in their path and tearing up the soil beneath. I have to admit that I am getting really frustrated and ready to take more drastic measures to block the two tracks in the park since the ATVs are getting more aggressive than ever.

I rode the trail today. This was the first time that I've rode Commerce, any trail, since the middle of November. The ride was great. There are a couple of places that the atv's have torn up but all in all it's in great shape.

Commerce is in great shape. There was no standing water on the trail and only a couple of slick spots.

Rode the trail today, it is in great shape. Couple branches down, one log. Could all be fixed with two people and a hand saw. One ATV's while i was there, but was a short section that i could see fresh ATV tracks.

If you haven't ridden this trail, or rode it before and got lost, now is a great time to ride it. Easy to follow the trail right now with the snow.

too wet

Postby Spinwheel » January 28th, 2006, 4:08 pm

Too wet as of 2:00 today.

If night time temps get below freezing again, it might ride good early in the morning before it thaws.

The 4-wheeler was out again over the weekend, this time it did a few laps through the woods just north of the cell tower, cutting across the mtb trail at least a dozen times.

In other news: This Sunday at 12:30 p.m. we’ll have a short trailday - PM me for details. Come on out to “the HICK!”

I've got an idea. Lets make a bear trap out of the crater just past the future ladder ramp. We can cover it with deadfall and leaves then cut a rough trail that leads right to it. The ATV rider will drop into the pit and launch a good 20 feet into the woods :D

We could also bury some boards with nails sticking up at strategic locations to pop their tires

I know, I know, that wouldn't be nice but it is fun to think about.

See you Sunday

Too muddy

Postby Spinwheel » February 24th, 2006, 4:50 pm

Once again... the trail was too soft and muddy this afternoon. Need more cold weather to freeze it up again.

Northshore Track

Postby wackoemilio » March 4th, 2006, 12:21 am

Hey everyone im just wondering if we could try to build a northshore track! I think it would be fun to have one and it would atract freeriders too and mabie with more people the ATV's will have to find another place to ride. Im just asking this because i didnt want to upset anyone if i did make one and if i did i was wondering if anyone would help out. So plz reply or pm me with ur comment answer or assistance.

Ch33rs,
Emilio

P.S. If anyone dosnt know what a NorthShore track is its pretty much a raised wooden plat form that can range from two inches in whith to 1 foot in whith. The wodden raised bridge near the end of the trail is kinda like a super short north shore coarce

If you'd like to help build some riding stunts at Commerce - we have some ideas and would love to hear yours. Also you might like to check out the "freeride" section of the FORUMS on this website for more info on Northshore style riding. I sent you a PM too..

Happy trails,
