TRAIL GUIDE
Contains mileage numbers on every trail that MMBA maintains, plus a description and a difficulty rating that should tell you quite a bit about each trail.

In my opinion, Maybury is more physically tiring than Lakeshore (Novi, also known as Tree Farm) because the climbs are generally longer, but Lakeshore is more technical. The trail is generally tighter and twistier than Maybury. Also take into consideration that Lakeshore is 10 miles, where Maybury is less than 6.

On the upside, I feel it's a lot easier to roll along at an easy pace at Lakeshore, and there's plenty of options to cut out on to two track and head back to the trailhead if need be.

I'd definitely think it's a good beginner-friendly trail. I like to think of it as a pretty easy trail that gets harder the faster you ride it.

Perfect. Thanks guys. I believe I will try this today. Also. Is there a quick and painless method for getting a parks pass other than going to the Secretary of State??

Novi Lakeshore Park is a city park, so your best option is to buy it at the gate. That said, it's unlikely there will be anyone there collecting money yet, as it's pretty early in the year.

Is there a pass you buy for city parks?

That all depends on the city. In Novi, yes. But if there's no one there to sell you a pass you can just enter and park.

Novi staffs the gate during the summer (when the park gets busy, the beach is open, and their seasonal help becomes available). There's a $5/day parking fee, or $35 for an annual pass. These fees are waved for people who live or work in Novi.

Novi also rewards bikers who do 16 hours of trail work at Lakeshore with an annual pass. Attending our trail day on Saturday will get you over half way there!

The Novi Park pass can be purchased at the Park (when staffed) or at City Hall.

So I live in Northville and work in Novi. That gets me a pass there then?

I understand that you can gain free entrance using a business card or a paystub, etc. with a Novi address.

Does anyone have a map of the Novi course used for the relay race? I heard the whole 10 miles is not used?

What type of time is expected of an advanced rider vs sport? I have been riding Tree Farm for two seasons and usually finish in about 55-60 minutes.

Yesterday was my first time. Awesome trail. However I think at one point I crossed paths and shaved off 1.3 miles because when I finished my trip it was only 8.5 ish. Oh well, still had fun.

Its pretty easy to cut off a bit when new to this trail. Take a look at the map and try for the full 10.5 next time, its worth it!
