I counted 6 trees down on the north trail today. My buddy thought he could make it under one and got wedged between it and the ground, scraped himself up pretty good. Just so ya know-you can't make it under!

I concur. I had not heard of any MMBA planned Trail days. Is this a park sponsored trail day event?

I'm confused- Jon is a westside guy. Jon did you post in the wrong trail conditions thread accidentally?

I think he meant to post this in the Bass River trail thread.

Yep, that completely explains why it'd be mentioned in the Bald Mountain thread. Then again, people are silly.

Just got back from riding the full North unit trail system. Most of it is in just fine condition but there are soft spots. 95% ride able, I would take the suggestions above and cut out on to Predmore to skip the flooded section and you should be golden. If it were to rain in the near future I would avoid this trail for a day or two after that.

There are still a few trees down in the north unit as previously noted, one in particular is just around a corner on a downhill. I had to lock up the brakes on that one  I stopped by the ranger office on the way home to report them but the office is only open Mon-Thur.

The south unit is a little wet in spots and the school trails are drying out nicely. A couple of wet sections in the grassy areas and there is still a 40 foot muddy stretch that I will go back and smooth out once it starts to dry. The course is getting faster but the new trails could use some more riders to help smooth them out.

I marked most of the normal LOHS course we use for racing with orange arrows on the ground at intersections. I did not mark the start finish areas or anything in Bald Mountain. The arrows should allow you to find all of the singletrack and ride it in the proper direction, which is normally clockwise. The easiest way to start is from the west side of the lower ball field as shown in the photo. Note that we have new trails now that bring you back out to the lower field but on the opposite side.

We have races scheduled for June 9th and 16th. If anyone wants a tour or wants to see how the course can be expanded from 6.5 to 11 miles shoot me a PM. I can ride most days after 4:00.

Submerged trail

Postby Pauly » April 11th, 2010, 6:00 pm

The section of trail just after the two downed trees is under water a lot of water . I turn around and went to check out the culvert that drains the lake under Predmore road . It was flowing very well and there was evidence of a beaver trying to dam it up . I cleaned out a few sticks and added then to the pile along the side of the road .

Tried to ride Bald North today, same findings as Pauly. As much as I like this trail it seems that it doesn't get good and dry until June, I'll be at Addison for the next 6 weeks.
