Thanks Scott for the info. We will have to organize something when the weather clears a bit?

It's definitely rough out there. it's hard to tell what's just hanging low from the weight of the ice and what's an actual downed tree. Supposed to warm up on Saturday, maybe the ice will come off the trees.

Drove down Hess this A.M. Many low trees but the road plowed, except parking lot, to the last house. Huge tree down across the road below the parking lot. That will take some effort. It is impassable. Some melting needs to happen before venturing onto the trails. Too dangerous at this point. In-fact the beginning of the West loop is covered up by an iced bush. You can see the sign but not the trail.

I'm a brand new rider, basically. I live about 3 miles from Holdridge, and am hoping to get out there when it's rideable. I'd also like to help when/if I can for cleanup. What is the best way to find out when someone would need help?

An organized Trail Day will be listed here as well as impromptu cleanups! Also, shortly there will be posted days on the CRAMBA website for 2014.

I did a quick clean up on the north loop - except that big tree. Hoping the coming storms will knock off that tree top. I'd rather not cut the whole thing down as the stump would make a good home for animals and insects. Don't know what to do, but it appears the walkers are making a trail around it.

I also cleared the turtle loop.

Good enough for skiing and snow shoeing - plenty more to clean up when the snow melts!

West loop and branches off it is still what it was I think.

Trail conditions, where there are no down trees or brush is frozen with uneven ice about 3" to 4" deep and about 18" wide. Outside of the ice is crusted snow about 6" deep. Not sure that studded tires would work. There seems to be foot traffic however. Please, if you are walking the trails be very careful and clear debris by hand if possible. Would really appreciate the help!!!

I cleaned what I could with a folding saw on the first two miles of the West loop. About ten trees need a saw in this section. How could you ski or snow shoe with such frozen uneven conditions?

And the snow keeps on coming!

Anyone up for some exercise this weekend? Looks like the mildest days of the week. If there is enough interest maybe a couple crews to do some chain action. Saturday or Sunday?

Sunday is a possibility for me. Snowshoes might be requires.

Krug/Sauge, 10:00 A.M. Sunday sounds good. However, based on the forecast, we could be there in the middle of a new snow storm. Could use at least one more for two crews!

Hear that ANOTHER 6"-8" of snow is coming Saturday night and into Sunday  Just getting down Hess Rd. would be an adventure (unless you have 4x4)
