Some J.A.s left the Holdridge parking lot covered with beer bottles, remnants of the camp fire in the middle of the parking lot, broken glass and wooden folding chairs, melted plastic from the fire and campfire wood scattered around. Discussed!!!

Saw the campfire remains, didn't see any bottles or broken glass. I put some of the pirated rocks that had been moved to the side of the trail back in the holes left by said rocks. Lots of the holes didn't have any corresponding rocks nearby, though. Other than that, West was dry and fast (could use a little rain to be honest) as were the first 8 of East. Trails are what I would call "close quarters", but not overgrown.

West and North loops are very dry, packed and fast. A little sketchy in spots from the dry sand and loose surface but loads of fun. One tree down just after the lake-side loop turn off on the West loop. It is small enough to ride over though, so maybe just leave it as it is not in a high speed spot. Glad to see some of the rocks put back in there places at the top of the first long climb about 1.5 miles in on the West Loop. It looks like they are supposed to be there to hold the top of the hill from eroding. Not sure why but there seemed to be TONS of small sticks and crap getting thrown up into my spokes and rear deraileur tonight......the trail didn't look that littered with stuff.

Theres a suspicious leaner between the end of the tech loop and the bridge on West. Its preety high up there, but its a six-inch tree leaning on a sapling and the sapling is bowed pretty good.

Speaking of that bridge, does anyone else think that maybe we should do some repair to it this year? The approach seems to be falling apart.

Speaking of repairs. .. the first skinny on West is falling apart, too.

(Yes, I'm coming to the next trail day, July 21st. :>P )

The bridge does seem to be loose or something. I slide off it the day, felt like it shifted when I hit it.

Cleaned up the mess on the beginning of the Lake Shore loop. Propped up the entrance of the bridge after the tech loop return. Removed some face slappers if the Lake Shore loop. North and West look pretty good. Some sob tore our pamphlet holder of the Keiosk

Rode Grubbers and the West Loop last night. Have to say, that after the spell of the dry weather the trail is in the best shape as compared to others in the area (Pontiac, Highland, Poto, Brighton). While everywhere else the trails have lots of loose over hardpack Holdridge is just a nice hardpack with no loose. I was blasting through. Some overgrowth in Grubbers but still doable.

Lots of wind in Holly early this morning. I didn't get on the trail, but judging by the amount of branches and fluff that was strewn along Grange Hall Rd (and some blown over trees visible from there), I suspect the trail will have at least a lot of brush on the trial, if not a bunch of actual trees down. As dry as it's been lately, I don't think the trail will be too wet to ride, but watch out for downed branches and trees.

Holy downed trees, Batman! It'd probably be quicker to rattle off the mile-markers that DON'T have trees down on West. But I'll give it a go- tree down at 1.5, 2, 2.5 (and its a doozy!), another giant mess on the tech-loop bypass, just past the fork, 2 or 3 down on the tech loop, small tree just before the bridge after the tech loop, and another biggun just after the bridge. I didnt ride the lake loop. Also, there is quite literally tons of fluff and small branches in the trail. Oh, and a giant tree fell across the road, blocking it completely, a couple hundred feet past the entrance to the parking lot.

Ron, PM me if you're headed out tomorrow for clean up. I can meet you out there at 9 or 10 and work till 3 or 4 if need be. I'll check here in the morning before I head out to ride.

I'll be out there about 2 or 2:30 Sunday afternoon. I knee it would be a mess after the storms we had.

West, Tech, Lake Shore, North and Meadows are all cleared of downed trees. Thank you Mike and wife and a young man from the Hill road bike shop for spareing a few hours to help. 8 hours of chain sawing is ruff stuff.
