Thanks. Heading there now.

I, for one, am jealous.

Checked my map and figured out that oxford isn't very close to Holdridge, too many lakes and crazy roads up there. I wussed out and decided to just go to Bald Mountain on my way home. I will get out there sooner or later.

West loop was clear and fast! Great job removing the downed stuff. Was going to take a small hand pruner with me to stop and clear some of the low hanging and overgrown stuff but forgot it at home.
North loop still has those pesky muddy puddles here and there and is getting pretty closed in feeling with all the green growth.

West loop and the first half of the east loop was in quite good shape. It's a bit overgrown, but nothing that caused anything more than the occasional arm scratch. Definitely a joy to ride, even with the heat.

There were short sections of Orchard with knee-high growth on either side of the trail that was nearly touching in the middle. Orchard in general isn't too bad, but it is a bit narrow in spots. The main part of the trail (I skipped Meadows) was again awesome. And as a testament to how few people ride East, I stopped 4 times for 10-15 minutes each (snacking and clearing a couple of hangers), and never so much as heard another rider!

Ron,
Are you guys removing rocks and roots from the west loop?
The trail is all torn up from rock removal.

When I was there last weekend and the week prior they were popping out left and right just riding over them. It's quite dry out there.

I was out Sunday morning and it was not like this. They were clearly dug out as some are very large head size rocks and were moved a ways off the trail. The first 2.25 miles are trashed and some of the tech loop as well.

I don't cut roots out or remove rocks, whom ever didn't check with me. I chain sawed a few trees on the North loop today and rode all of the East. Hope we have a good turnout this Saturday, plenty of trimming to do. Ron HTC

I didn't think so, but had to ask. As I see there was some major damage done to the trail. A few large rock fields were completely removed.

I will be at Big M and Manistee this weekend so no trail day for me. It appears the Highland and Poto rock remover has struck at Holdridge between Sunday and today. Post up if you have any info about this vandal.
Some of the rocks removed were placed to protect roots. Other sections of rocks held soil in place on downhills. PLease report if you have any information.

800-292-7800 is the DNR hot line. 810-610-3478 is my personal number. If someone is altering the trails without authorization we need to get a handle on it.
