Multiple trees down as mentioned previously. Plenty of derailleur munching sticks on the trail. I lost a bottle and it could have ruined my ride had I not also brought a Camelbak. My brain was baking in the 100°F temps & the drafting deer flies kept me in the red zone.

I could be be off and I missed some of the down trees, but here it goes:
1) south of Patterson Rd heading north bound.
2) North loop, before the "clay hill"
3) Gosling southbound near Kelly at the top of the hill after the last bridge (rammed my junk).
4) south of Hiland Lk after it heads away from Glenbrook Rd, the big tree is across the little ditch bridge. Makes it tricky to climb over.

If the area doesn't get rain tonight, the trail will be back to full dry mode tomorrow.

Wow. Thanks for the report B. We got it cleared this am but after last night there maybe more stuff down other then on the Gosling loop.
It was drying out pretty well before we got back to the car at 1:30 . But we have a system coming in at the present. No rain yet.

Still a few trees down from Hiland to the Crooked intersection with Poto. I will try to get to these later this week. If someone does hit them before me, please post here so I don't do the walk of pain in vain.

Also, while a few pieces of deadfall are "mostly cleared", some continue to encroach, in part, on the trail corridor. While passable, it would be easy for a rider to hook these pieces. When clearing deadfall, please try to remove the whole enchilada from the corridor, not just make it passable. The one that comes to mind right now is a the bottom of what I call the "luge run" chute descending to Dead Lake. A little blonde splinter is hanging into the trail that is gonna catch someone good.

Finally, we've had it good for a while at the Poto due to the dry conditions. Unfortunately, this is a double-edge sword as it sets the trail up for nasty conditions after a big storm/gully-washer like we had last week. While I don't see radical erosion trenches that have developed as a result on any of the fall line hills, the trail has migrated from a fast/hard/swept phase to one of a slow/loose/thick phase. Such is the nature of the Poto as a grandfathered fall line trail. Just be aware of these conditions as you venture forth.

Thanks, G.! (as always)

On a side note, I hope all Poto riders appreciate and understand the workload that Greg puts in out at the Poto. He is a major reason the trail stays clear and rideable.

Very much so. When we were building River Bends he just appeared out of the blue and really helped things get done.

Thanks. It's fun stuff and I get to meet some great folks all over this great state who also happen to ride mountain bikes.
