Rode TS last night. Majority of the climbs are very loose and dry. Downhills are begining to get rutty. Overall makes for a very challenging ride.

Thanks for posting this. I know that spot well. I guess talking to the camera and riding over log jumps at the same time is not a good idea!

I rode both Torn Shirt and Murray Lake today. What a task. Torn Shirt was rough on the loose gravel uphills and the washed out ruts on the downhill. It kicked my butt.

Murray Lake was a pleasant ride, very enjoyable and in very good shape. It could become my favorite trail.

Rode yesterday

I rode with brother joz yesterday just torn shirt. It gets more and more challenging every time with the long unforgiving washed out ups and downs. The middle of the trail has an abundance of loving face slappers. :)

Yea, torn shirt is pretty bad. But what a ride, I just had to do eveything twice.

I'm wondering, is there any chance of installing that black 'snow-fence'-like netting on torn shirt to try an rage against the erosion? That stuff seems to do an amazing job keeping Poto in good shape.

Torn Shirt is getting down right trecherous.

Murray Lake had some spots where the roots and rocks made for tough traction issues on the uphills and downhills. For the average rider, it can get pretty spooky. I kept spinning out(I need to post in tips and techniques...).

But, the wildflowers were out in full bloom!

Tron Shirt

I tried to rid Torn Shirt Friday. The fall line climbs weere nothing but rocks and gravel. One slip of the rear tire and I was done. The down hills were a bit scary to. Most of the time there was a big pile of sand at the bottom.
If you can clean Torn Shirt you are a pro.

Rode the TS torture trail today. A tree jumped out (on purpose, of course.) and ended up severing my left shifter cable housing, bending my rim, breaking a spoke and doing something nasty to either my headset, steering tube or both. Man, the wheater has made that trail all that much more brutal. Still in the top four favorites( along with highland, plra, and poto.) All that damage on my brand new 1 month old bike. I guess I'll forgive that tree this one time.

rode murray, then TS, then rode murray again. Murray lake trail is in great shape, but the TS is "challenging". I walked up quite a few hills due to the large size stone gravel filling the trail. Some of them I made, although at times I was trackstanding on the hill just trying to maintain balance while thinking about how I could crank out one more pedal rev....

The erosion troughs that litter that trail are eye popping - never seen those before at brighton - they are fresh and DEEP!

But, I must admit, I was pleased to have to get off my bike and walk up stuff I just could not clean! It's refreshing to have tricky technical conditions that push your skills to the breaking point. The erosion out there was bad in spots, but I am sure Poto, PLRA, etc. have their own issues because of the rainfall this year. I like this new added difficulty to all the trails we have gotten used to - the deck is being reshuffled!
Five fingers, three chords, and one *beep*.....!

Torn Shirt

We rode TS on 7/25/04 - :!: VERY challenging and at times, quite dangerous. Very steep dropoffs, tons of washed-out areas. Ride with caution!

Brighton Bishop Lake Parking Lot.
Bring: bug juice, long pants, eye protection, gloves, lopers.

General plan is cutting back overgrowth on Torn Shirt and some erosion control.

Rode 2 laps of Murray Lk. Trail is in decent shape (DRY!) with some rutted downhills, but overall, pretty good ride. Don't know about Torn Shirt as the previous posts kinda steered me away.

I did Torn Shirt & Murray on Friday.

Torn Shirt uphills are challenging (as mentioned above) due to loose aggrigate and the downhills are downright trecherous in places due to erosion and considerable drops following exposed roots.

I'm not an expert rider by any means but anyone that hasn't ridden Torn Shirt since early May is in for a real surprise that hopefully won't end in an injury.
