MMBA Poto is working with the Brighton DNR to open this section soon!

Vey cool and nice work getting it opened! I was going to clarify soon, but it's definitely been opened now. I rode it a couple times last year till it was closed back up and thought it was a great addition.

A group of us, including the IMBA Great Lakes Regional Director rode it this morning. It is not finished and it still needs a lot of work but it is open to ride. It is NOT marked, there is no signage. You can get turned around very easy. This trail is entirely on state land so no worries.

Is it easy to tell where the private land adjacent to this area starts? I know that was a very sensitive issue from last year and if it's not marked out yet, I wouldn't want to wonder onto the private land and open up old wounds.

Some places it is marked well, other places not so much, if in doubt wait, it should be finished soon.

Forgot how awesome this place is. Nice work to the TC and trail jockeys that maintain it.

This tree has been cleared, thanks for the post.

Rode Murray lake + Lost loop. Both are in great shape.
BTW where does this "lost in a lost loop" loop start and how do you get back to lost loop again?

A couple of us rode over from ILRA yesterday. On the Lost Loop, we encountered all of the new sections (apparently even the "unofficial" one) and rode them all. We even ran into someone clearing new trail with a brush hog (sorry, didn't get his name). He gave us the skinny on the new sections, and asked us to ride the section he was clearing. I can't wait for these new sections to be completed - they are a lot of fun. It will just need a little polishing, and to be ridden in. :)

Rode all 3 loops Sat but did not do "new" trail on lost loop. Pretty eroded and loose for this time of year, especially Torn Shirt where several of the climbs have lots of roots to navigate over (no going around them). Also, some rutted out drops on decents of 1-2ft on Torn. Great trail and a must do when at Brighton Rec. I would have to say the first 3 miles of Torn is one of the most techincal and toughest in SE Mi. Right up there with sections of HIghland.

I think I explored some of the new section, only on foot. My riding partner had an unrepairable flat at about 3.8 mi so we hiked the quickest route we could find out to the road. As others have said, it appears you go straight at the 3.3 mi marker. In fact going straight looks more worn in than taking the hard left. As we walked out to the road we could see trail going everywhere, none of which looked familiar. Next bike ride I may go that way and check it out.

Can someone confirm that if you go straight at the 3.3 marker, you get dumped back on the main trail somewhere and not end up in someone's back yard?

The new trail does indeed start at the 3.3 mile marker on the lost loop. It's a combination of old established walking trails and some new sections mowed through fields and cut through woods. some sections are soft and unfinished where bench cutting will be necessary and none of it is marked.
I am trying to retire from this job so I can ride my bicycle more this year, anyone interested in doing trail maintenance can send me a PM.
