Indeed. Fortunately there's a bit of a path being worn through the tree, but it's a definite hike-a-bike through branches, over branches, etc. A friend of mine dubbed it Treemageddon. Nothing else really needed on the trail other than some loppers.

Hmmm. I have not been to maybury in a while, and I forgot what a great trail this is. And how old I am. And how I used to do 4 laps like it was nothing. Today I huffed and puffed on the 3rd lap and just finished it. Just.Tree still there but I was able to ride over it. Nice day.

Maybury rules! Very technical and rewards you to keep pedaling-like most trails....I keep learning here. Maybury was great yesterday but lots of face slappers and blind inside corners at speed...Trail was smoking fast and some of the climbs and twisty downhills were starting to get loose. Ibisman did a great job of reminding us how inadequate we all are....only 3 laps huffing & puffing. :-o Sheesh....you must be embarassed. I did two laps yesterday and felt pretty good about myself and this is my home course and I have been riding it for years.

...Had a guy on Thursday eve with the best moustache I ever seen pass me on an Orange/Black Niner SS?....Dude- you were flying and have motivated me to grow a big 'stache and get in better shape this summer. Just hammering it old school with the sleeveless shirt - my new idol.

Lots of much needed rain here in the 'ville this morning so the Jungle growth and mosquitoes will be out in force soon. Rain has stopped and it looks like the sun is going to come out.

Trail is in good shape after yesterday's rain. Few small puddles, nothing big. Small Tree down about 1/2 mile after winter loop sign, after the switchback climb. A re-route is well formed & a little log ramp has been built.

Haha I know that guy. He used to ride a pink bike but Niners don't come in that color...

Dirt was slightly damp this morning, but not muddy. Just right! TreeZilla has been tamed.

hey guys, stupid question about maybury. I've never been out there and want to get out there next week to put my new fork through the paces. Love riding new places like eyerone else. Is the trail pretty well marked? Looking at the map looks like it intersects walking/horse/paved trails several times? and some of the sections are hard to tell from the legend on the map (is it dot dash dot dash, or dot dot dot.....or my eyes suck, lol).

Thanks

Maybury flows really well If you are familiar with mtb trails which if you have just put a new fork on I'm sure you will be in great shape. The trail is very fun and in good shape at least as of Thursday. Have fun and enjoy the new fork and no worries you will not get lost...

I went out there today and I realized that it might not be obvious how you get to the trail from the parking lot. You said you have a map right? Once you hit the trail you should be good.

Simple directions from the 8-mile lot:

Enter the paved trail past the iron gate that blocks half the trail - the "Maybury Sanitorium" display will be on your right - it's huge, you can't miss it.
At this point you will pass a hiking trail, off limits to bikes.
Keep going and the paved trail ends at a T, turn left.
Keep going on the paved trail until you get to another 3-way T intersection.
Turn Right. Keep going.
You will see a horse trail crossing, and then the paved trail splits left and right.
Go left, then follow the paved trail to the trailhead on your left. Marked with a Kiosk, you will not miss it.

Just like military cadence: "left, right, left."
"Nice bruise. What did you hit, a tree?"

"No, the ground."

Trail was in good shape on Saturday June 2nd, no trees down as of 5pm, just 2 or 3 small mud puddles you can ride through and get that cool guy mud man look
