between the beavers and the winds, trees were falling all over bloomer this afternoon
couple large ones near the end of the new ridge route, over by the rock garden
and several in the 'enchanted forest' and along the river trail

but the new stuff is setting in nicely, keep it up kids

I cleared some smaller branches off of the downed trees. (A couple you can get over now.) One was by the sledding hill, and another right after the new section with the bridge/elevated wood section. Trail was good, I think the rain and softer conditions is helping the new stuff. I ran with a guy in a blue jacket for a few, (after he skipped part of a section) and it looked like he missed all the new stuff by the ball fields. I tried yelling at you to follow me!

Rode bloomer today, met at least 6 people going backwards. I think I may help the Trail managers out and put up a few more signs.

yep, nice to meet ya kyle. we are still trying to put together the 'new' loop out there
rode pretty nice backward tho!!!

was pleasently surprised how clear the trail was
either some folks did a lot of sawing since monday, or all those tree we heard falling were all in the swamps

Is there an "official" direction? As far as I'm aware, there is no dictated direction. Most of my riding there (as well as most people I see out there) is in the direction of the typical race loop.
I have ridden everything there the opposite direction there... only made it a very short way up the switchbacks though

As Derek and Dustin have been working and expanding the trails @ Bloomer, they have been working to define and mark the trails in the intended direction. Most of the reason that there has been no 'official' direction @ Bloomer is because of lack of signage and trail maps, so now ability to define a direction.

See the trail map for the trail directions: http://mmba.org/library/maps/bloomer/bl ... _draft.pdf (I don't think this is completely current, waiting for an updated map)

I'm not sure if there is an official direction, I was just basing that on what has been laid out for a loop this year.

Nice to meet you too! (Not sure your name i69whitey) when I met you guys going to wrong way you looked like you weren't lost so I didn't say anything, but I have been nearly wiped out on a climb more than once, by someone bombing down the wrong way on the trail. I honestly would ride another trail system more, but this one is just too darn convenient being right next to my office.

That map is definitely not current, doesn't have any of the new stuff by the cricket field, or down by the powerlines. These guys have really done a lot of work this year to make it a TON better.

From what I recall from last night 5 or 6 tree's with one that is head height that could cause serious damage if someone isn't paying attention. The branch is broken off and the broken off piece is right at head level.

In talking with Dustin yesterday, he might be out there tomorrow morning clearing them out. If not, hopefully we can get them cleared out Saturday.

Hope this helps...

that one is on the way out thru the 'enchanted forest' i believe they called it
past the chute and stairs heading back towaards the lot
that may actually be out of the park, but...
it's definitely dangerous, especially yesterday while riding right into the setting sunlight
it's eye level for us taller saddled folks and the branch points right at ya

Kim,
I rode Bloomer last night after work. I warned the Double D's about it too. I almost hit that tree on my second lap. With the sun low it was difficult to see.

Directional trail markers are now up!

I know that they want to install a few more but at least everyone will know what direction to ride Bloomer. No one should be riding up The Ridge trail (big switchback section) anymore!

Only tree's down as of last night are on the 2 track. One out by the The Ridge trail (big switchback section) and one out by the stairs.

Awesome, I'll be riding a few laps tonight!

Edit* I rode tonight, and it was marked much better, great work! I notice one confusing spot when you pop out on the Rochester side and ride down a double track for a bit. There was a marker pointing right, basically into a new cut out on the right side of the trail, that led into the powerline area that's cut out. Couldn't figure out where that was supposed to lead? I popped back out and rode down to the next cut in which leads to some of the new stuff. Other than that everything was marked quite well, glad to see it coming around!
