I've been riding yankee since the mid 90's and its always been rutty... The nature of the landscape there. It sure does dry fast though!

How fast? Rideable today, like Noon when the ran is supposed to stop?

Sorry to continue the off-topic discussion, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate the topic being discussed in the open. It's good for new riders like me to see how much consideration is put into trail design and maintenance. For technical areas, I'm surprised not to see Edwards Creek mentioned.

Go for it. A few wet spots, but solid conditions. Quite a few riders out there just after noon.

The rain stopped mid/early a.m. The trail should be sweet. Have fun!

Any idea if the reroute added length to the trail or cut a section out? Riding it saturday I couldn't discern if there was an overall length distance change.

The reroute didn't add length, it did remove a climb though.

I didn't notice any thorns or thorny vegetation, but it rides like wet concrete :D; at least it did yesterday after the rain, during my second lap.

About 1/4 - 1/2 mile after the rubber mat hill...around the 8 mile mark. It cuts out the only climb that has cinder blocks burried in the soil.

No...not kidding.

I think the reason for the re-route may have had more to do with the descent after the climb, vs the climb itself. The current descent was a re-route a few years back....but it has eroded pretty badly....the first right hander developes a tremendous amount of sand in the summer months, and due to it being a sharp corner with a tree to dodge at the entrance, it claims victims frequently.

The reroute may add a little legnth to the course....it comes in at the bottom of the current descent, at the exit of the final left hander in the pines.

It is what it is....the TC has a tall order in trying to please everyone :shock:
