I did two laps of yellow and was surprised at how good of shape the trail was in. There are two trees down that require you to get off your bike at the start of yellow, prior to where yellow and blue come together. The third tree is down a bit further into yellow after that point, but honestly I thought it was kinda fun to bunny hop it. It's very easy to see it coming, and it's not a big tree. You can either ride over it slowly and easily or bunny hop it. The first two, though, are definite chain saw stuff. The first can't be more than a few hundred yards from the trailhead, and the second is on the wide uphill climb at the beginning, prior to the bridge (if I remember right...).

I haven't been to IL in months, and it was great to see the maintenance that folks had done since my last visit. Many thanks to those who helped get the trail into such great shape!

Did two laps last night. What a night for a ride. A few trees down, only one that will take some effort to remove. Just past the road crossing where you cross the river. Short distance from the cabin. Big tree. You can ride around it though.

for those of you with computers, what is the total distance for riding both loops? The info page states it is 13, but I thought it was a little longer then that, especially if you ride beginner back to the parking lot, and then start intermediate at trail head....

thanks.

I've come up with 14.5 but I haven't ridden both loops together in awhile.

I usually ride it the way you said, from parking lot back to parking lot before starting the second loop, and that way you ride all of the trail and a small 2 way section twice.
When I do it like that it's an even 15 miles.

Wife got 15.2 miles on her computer if you do the blue and the yellow, and I believe that includes the above mentioned small 2 way section twice.
2014 miles/goal: 3120/2500
2015 miles/goal: 5019/5000

According to my GPS numbers from 2 yrs ago, Blue is 9.2 miles, and Yellow is 5.7, both THD to THD.

Trail was in decent shape. A lot of small deadfall from the winds and a large tree down on Yellow about 100m before the 5mile marker. It will need a chainsaw to remove.

Rode yesterday and the trail was slick and muddy. It's probably way worse after today's rain. The tree Smellycat mentioned is still there and it's pretty big (14" d).

I am on lay-off. I won't be back until Dec 12.

So let some one at the office know about the tree or it will stay there until I come back on the 12th.
