Rode today in the early afternoon. Couldn't believe the hardpack conditions - it was also like riding in the summer! There were icy spots - especially at Spring Mill Pond and along the RR tracks on blue - but I was able to navigate the entire trail without studs and without problem. Never even had any significant slippage. I wasn't expecting to be able to go so fast, and exert so little effort.....wished I had another layer on to keep me warmer.

Very good conditions for riding. Studs are not necessary but are very helpful. I rode with studs while my partner rode without. Wide tires with big knobs would make for a better ride. Icy in spots but manageable. Icy conditions on bridges--be careful crossing. Good Luck.

HamHock and I did both the blue and yellow loops this morning (Tuesday) and the trail was 100% better than last week. Most of the trail is a firm snow pack unless you go too far off to the side. Some ice but very nice ride.

Great conditions last night, but I was glad I had studded tires, especially after dark. Most of it is smooth, hard packed snow.

Rode both loops today, the blue was the best but both were in awesome shape except where the Atv tore up some of the blue. I used Mythos XC tires and never even spun a tire on the blue, some studs might have helped on the yellow but it was big fun anyway!

Wed eve it was covered with snow and ice past the pond. Don't know about the front part.

Response to the ILRA road conditions... They are very rideable with some ice/hardpack snow towards the back of the park near the back of the park. The rest is fairly clear. One note is to not take the underpass connector to Kensington as it has not been plowed or salted. The connector to the park entrance into Kent Lake road is fairly clear and a better bet. Kensington is perfect. Get out and ride :D

I was thinking about riding ILRA this coming Friday. It is supposed to be well below freezing so I was wondering if there is ice or snow on the trails. Will put on my Nokians if so. Thanks in advance for the info! :)

Ran yellow loop last night - 6 miles of solid ice with frozen foot prints a set of frozen tire tracks. There's a little snow on top, but it's just setting in the ice and won't give you much traction, if any.

Blue is very rideable. Bumpy in areas, slick in others, and some areas are smooth sailing with snow pack. Studs are helpful but you could get away without them.

Large tree down at about mile 8 right after the little log pile and before the final straightaway to the yellow split. Needs a chain saw.

Not suitable for a road bike but you could do fat tire without studs with some caution. Lots of snow over the roads.

I did Blue and some pavement today. The trail is in great shape. There's some bumpy spots and some ice but much of it is decent snow pack. If we get that inch or two tonight I'd say it will be perfect conditions.

Road ice covered in many areas. Studs needed .We put them on in the fall and don't take them off until April. Those who say "studs not needed" are just too cheap to buy them or too lazy to make them. Be safe. You don't impress any one by not using studded tires. You don't need a hat or coat either. Geez.
