Sometimes I feel like nuts and sometimes I don't. I'm so glad we have the variety we do. Fast, tight, twisty, climbs?. Take your pick and go to that trail. You can make it "hard" by pushing your speed with nothing holding you back but you. Great for hot summer days since more speed means more cooling. Coming from racing motorcycles in the woods I can go fast enough that I almost feel like I'm back on the dirt bike.

Hours of operation?

Anyone know when the park opens? I'd like to do a few loops before meeting some friends for ridding and still leave before it gets too hot. If I can enter the park at 6 or 7 I'd be golden. I did not see such information at the Rec website. Thanks

They dont open the main gate until 8:00 am

You can park at the JCPenney lot and enter there or park and the car pool lot on Grandriver and ride to the yellow loop ( the brigde across from the main gate).

LOTS of trees down!!! Numerous small trees for the first 1.5 miles. Large trees down at miles 7.2, 7.3, 10, 11.4 and 13.2 assuming you run the blue trail then the yellow. A few of them are in dangerous spots so be careful!!

I'll head over in the morning to get started on clearing the trees. I've contacted the DNR as well.

I cleared all the downed trees from the trail head to the railroad tracks on Blue. DNR says they will get the rest. I also did some limited trimming of larger potentially dangerous low hanging branches.

There has been persistent and unwanted traffic on a previously closed section of trail after Placeway. (eroded climb) This should stay closed now.

As of 7/7 morning there is 1 tree still down towards the end of yellow, just before the last pavement crossing.

All trees are taken care of. Trail is really nice. Had a pretty fast pace with my wife leading the way. Did both loops, never saw a single person out on the trails. Only in the lot. It's like we had the place to ourselves, and it was awesome.

There is a leaner between the tunnely climb and mile marker 3 1/4 on blue. Otherwise the rest of blue and yellow are in nice shape.

Tree down on blue between the parking lot crossing and first road crossing. There's a passageway cleared out under it but its a bit low.
Chocolate is the answer. The question is pretty much irrelevant.

Still 3 trees down; the one Roffles mentions two posts up, the one CM mentions above right after Riverbend and one on the blue at the 6 &3/4 mile marker or so. They are all passable so it's no emergency.

F A S T !

The rain tuned that place into a go-kart track. Got a yellow, blue, yellow, blue, yellow and then another blue in before the rain started again around 8pm. All those normal sandy corners, I was nailing them at speed and coming out of them on fire. Sure waas a fun ride. Traffic was low and the only two puddles were on the yellow. One was right before bridge at the sandy climb...the normal area but were small enough to ride around. The other was at the exit of the left hand turn wooden bridge. Again small and able to go around it and stay on the trail.
