For posting trail-specific conditions and problems

Postby RQ1 » May 4th, 2007, 9:14 pm

Rode the trail today, May 4th. Conditions were great.

Bill and Sam and a friend were digging up stumps and leveling sections of trail. It was my second time on the trail, and the second time Bill was out there digging and cutting. Thanks for all the hard work, Bill.

The trail description on the listing page still describes it as under construction, but I found it pretty easy to follow, All 5 miles are well marked - just stay off the two tracks and you can't go wrong.

Have fun near the lake!

Holy crap! A new trail right in Milford? Fantastic!

I've got to check this one out after work next week.

How does it compare to, say, Torn Shirt in Brighton?

Ride like Highland, Fort Custer ( Lake Area) and Hickory Glen all in one....

I got out there yesterday. It is a lot like Highland but with even more off camber downhill turns. Nice job on the trail, Bill.

I noticed some people have left you some love letters out there.

I like the trail. It was a good technical excercise.

The only one negative that stood out to me was the apparent history of dumping in the park. In the 5 mile course I'd guess I saw 2 refridgerators, two dozen tires, several car doors, a pair of broken windshields (one of them dangerously located at the side of the trail) and some other random refuse.

Has there been any though about having a trail day just to clear out the garbage? It seems with all the two tracks there it shouldn't be too hard to get a tractor near enough to load that stuff out.

I wonder if the city of Milford could help so far as the waste removal once the trash is pulled out of the park and maybe with getting us a tractor & wagon or some such.

Any thoughts on this?

One of the running /Biker clubs has been working with the Milford's DPW to plan a day for clean up. I will post it when I find out. A lot of that junk was from some guy how keep going out an finding the trash in the woods . Then he pills it up on the trail. Twice already I have had to remove a pile of tires off the trail..... That is way it looks like Sh1t in a few spots...... Bill and Sam the Trail Dog

Very good. I'll do my best to help out when the date is set. Unfortunately weekends are harder for me to get out :(

That guy is putting people at risk. Yesterday there was a broken windshield within inches of the trail. If someone accidentally fell on that they could get cut badly. I guess I should have moved it off the trail but I didn't know if there was some reclaimation effort ongoing (i.e. that day) so I figured I'd post it here first.

First time to Bill's...er...Milford Trail.
Parking lot was packed -- too bad it wasn't for the mountain bike trail. Little league is popular in Milford. This is not your typical mountain bike trail in SE Michigan. The flow is tighter, the groud isn't broken in, and there's other unique characteristics to this ride. Had a lot of fun -- I'm supposed to remind Bill about something, but I can't remember what the sign said. So...thanks Bill -- sorry it took me so long to get out there. I had a good time riding your trail! :D

The trail is in great shape. I mowed back most of the tall grass on the trail today.

Rode on Sunday afternoon (july 15) and there is a tree down about 1.5 miles in, but able to duck/ride around for now.
Otherwise, this trail just keeps getting faster with time/use, and thanks to whoever rode earlier that day and cleared all the cobwebs for me! (although i've yet to see anyone else in the parking lot or on the trail...)
However, ran into the big doe yet again, luckily this time on friendlier terms, last time we almost hit each other. Bill, does she have a name yet?

The tree is gone......

How about Bambi?... If you hit her, just don't leave any guts on the side of the trail..... :)
The trail is in sweet shape, I trimed back some of today.

Started to ride the trail on Tuesday night. Broke my chain, and had to hike out to Commerce Rd. Milford 1, Me, 0.

Rode it today (Friday), and loved it. My legs are sore, but not as sore as my pride.

Great trail, we just need to get those refrigerators out of there.
