Hey KoKo - you discovered my mini- epic. I can leave my garage and ride Commerce, then shot thru the Proud Lake campground trail to loop 1 to Garden Rd, thru Milford, across the pedestrian bridge, do the Milford Trail then reverse the route (Optional: stop for a beer at O'Callahans). I always think how lucky I am to live where I can get great riding like this without getting in a car.

You need to add Proud lakes, Loop 4 to your ride. This will add 3 different type's of riding to your epic.
How is the connector after all this wind? Any dead falls that need to be removed?.

If you're talking the connector from the paved path to the proud lake fire road, its in fine shape. nothing down as of sunday at least.

KokoRider wrote:Rode Milford Sunday monring for the first time since that snowy, mid-winter race organized by Builder Bill. I forgot just how fun it is! It sure rides longer than the advertised 5 miles. Took me as long to navigate this trail as a 10-mile loop at PLRA takes!

Love all those off-camber twisty turns and short climbs :P Real easy to catch the back roads and trail system to Proud Lake and Hickory Glenn for a fun epic

Last weekend I GPS'd the trail at 4.6 miles. I'm curious how long it takes others to do a lap here. My normal average is about 35 to 38 minutes. As a side note, I've kept a log of my riding this past year. I've ridden milford over 20 times, and rarely have I encountered another rider on the trail. Where is everybody? Come on out and have a blast. :D

I've had a name for your mini-epic for a little while, but I start at Milford. The PHLEGM ride.
Proud Hickory Lake (Eat) Glen Milford
(I could use suggestions for the E.)

Trail yesterday in great shape. The leaves are receding to show the dirt trail again in most sections.

I've been riding it in about 35-36 too. Best was a 33.5 this summer when I was still using my derailler, but this course is waaay more fun when you just pick a gear and ride.

The Trail's in Great Shape, sweet water views with all the leaves off the trees. Bridges can be a little slippery with all the snow , Shoot the roller coaster strait on.
I Opened a new section of trail today..... Come try it out. :D

P. S. Thanks for the new sign in the Hippy bowl.

Bill,
I presume there's signage to the new section, (knowing you), just want to make sure I can ride it at night.
Thanks.

Hey Bill,

I was the one who put up the new sign that I think you are refering to
thanking you for such a little gem of singletrack, nice work !

I rode out there on the Friday after Thanksgiving and it was a beautiful day with all the fresh snow on the trees and a nice frozen trail surface with the sunshine lighting everything up. I was the only one out there and laying down the only tire tracks that I could see. It was magical indeed !

SC 8)
I love mountain biking because I haven't found anything that is more FUN !!

Had a great ride today with BuilderBill and crew!
No mud, no pizza cutters, no problem! The tread was tacky and fast.
I'm not a comlete idiot, some parts are missing.

Rode this last night before dark. Only signs of use were frozen bill and sam prints. (Ran into them at the end!) It was my very first ride in the winter and what a blast!!
The trail is clear of deadfall. Now there's just new snow to play in!

Sunday Ride

Postby Steve_Balogh » February 24th, 2008, 8:43 pm

Cut my ride at ILRA short, good thing - there's a lot of untouched snow at Milford. I was surprised how deep it got in some sections. I followed just a few hiker's footprints, there were no bike tracks at all. I did not use studs, my 4" wide Endomorphs did fine out there. The only place I had an issue with ice was by the three bridges along the lake, and one other downhill afterwards. The entrance looked fairly slick, I entered the trail further ahead along the ballfield fenceline. The snow was the wet heavy type, but not slush.
