Thanks for all of the work! I can't understand the mentality of deliberately moving the stumps onto to the trail or messing with one of the jumps. It's a public park. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Come out to the Third Annual Black Friday MTB Ride at Rolling Hills and Hewens Creek Parks in Ypsilanti Township on Friday 11/25 at 10 AM. This will be a no-drop group ride and is great for novice MTBer's to get exposure to single track riding and be a great way to burn off that Thanksgiving feast and tryptophan overdose. The ride will be about 13 miles covering about 5.5 miles at Hewens Creek and 5 miles at Rolling Hills along with a few miles of dirt road connecting the two parks. For those who haven't ridden or rarely ride at RHP, you will also get a chance to see the greatly expanded paved paths at RHP and the expansion layout for ~1.5 miles of exciting single-track MTB trail which is now in the final approval stages.

Meet at the Rolling Hills Headquarters building (the lodge) at 10 AM and then we will head out by 10:15 AM. After the ride, we will have some pizza and drinks at the lodge. Please let me know in advance if you plan to attend so I can get a good estimate of riders for the pizza and beverages. Rain date will be Saturday 11/26 at 10 AM. Look for changes on the Rolling Hills or Hewens Creek forums on the MMBA website.

New map box installed at the entrance to the trail at Y1 (http://t.co/wRmidwbA) Used some of the removed pine tree cuts to level out the new big log pile at O4. Here's the approach http://t.co/MHKhAKJl and here's the back side http://t.co/f30aS9SA. Trail in pretty good shape but it's a little soft in some stretches.

Rode it yesterday afternoon. Couple of sneaky slick spots. Love the revisions to the big log pile, so much better. I can't believe how much slower I am already this fall. The sudden gunfire from a neighboring property did elevate my heart rate a couple times.

REMINDER: Third Annual Black Friday Ride, 11/25, 10 AM at Rolling Hills HQ Building/Lodge

I'm pleased to report that Wheels in Motion bike shop has volunteered to sponsor our group ride this Friday by paying for the pizza and beverages. Let's thank Kevin and DeWight at WiM by stopping by their shop on Washtenaw to check out their inventory of gear, bikes, etc.

Weather forecast for Friday AM looks fantastic with low's in the 40's, sunny and little chance of rain. Responses thus far indicate that we might have upwards of 20 riders this year. So, it should be a great day to give thanks for the great local trails and the comradery of our MTB community.

Walk thru yellow and orange loops today before the ride tomorrow. Trail is pretty soggy in most spots from the heavy rain. Between Y2 and Y3 the field is under water in some spots: http://t.co/GkPwUJUG The wooded section with the raised platforms is also pretty soft: http://t.co/vpHV7QrE Be careful at Y13 where there are planks to cross the ditch. The planks are floating with all the rain: http://t.co/TqILRbht Even though it's a bit wet it's still rideable. Hope to see you there tomorrow.

Great day for the Poto Black Friday Ride, even though it was still a little muddy here at HCP. It looked like a great turnout, certainly the most riders that HCP has seen at one time:

A private property sign was also added to the northern fence line where the neighbor cut the fence to permt game to pass through. Let's please respect our HCP neighbors! http://t.co/aLA0RaoK

New map box has been ripped from the tree and tossed into the lake. Sorry, but you'll have to bring your own maps if you need one. The township brought in a group of folks to pick up trash in the park, which is truly appreciated. The trail surface is now mostly frozen with a couple of flooded spots that have turned into longer stretches of slippery ice. Watch out when walking and riding.

I just don't get why people want to destroy the map box etc. I was going to ride this afternoon but decided to shoot instead.

Trail pretty soggy after all the weeks rains. Orange loop is almost a total loss for riding. Not bad to hike, but boots are recommended.

A few signs have been vandalized in the red loop which will have to be replaced. Anybody know how to make an indestructible map box? =^]. Maybe a diamond plate metal box?

If only the temps would stay below freezing the trail would be nice and frozen.....

I have been pondering a map box created from pressure treated 2x boards and a hinged lid. Should be pretty bomb proof. I have some scrap untreated 2x laying around that I could build a prototype this week.
