Good list. Add Loren Kokenus sp?

Loren Konkus.

I also second Bill Hermann.

These guys are perfect examples of the silent trail builders who contribute MUCH more than anyone realizes. Loren is also a master advocate.

I also don't think it's fair to continue this discussion without mentioning Nick and Marty Shue. They've also put a lot of time and money into making the wheels turn, the people who haven't done this type of work really don't understand the dedication that all of the aforementioned have put into it. This is definitely a labor of love. I could name more, but the list would start to get ridiculous.

I have not been active in the MMBA for years, or racing, but still ride. *beep* I only recognize one name on the Board of Dir. But I need to put in my votes.

>Advocacy - Todd Scott for sure!, Jason Aric Jones, Bud Pell

>Trail building and design - Bud Pell, Pauly, Art Fleming

>Racing - Kelli Emmett, Brent Bookwalter, Mike Simonson, Danielle Musto, Scott Quiring, Robert Herriman, Art Fleming, Derek Prechtl, Russ Tiles, Shelly Wilson, Mark Hendershot

>Promotions - Robert Linden, Steve Brown

I'm sure I missed a few but I'm old and my memory sucks a little.

I second all the people mentioned here already. Plus add Bill Mayer for Advocacy and Trail Building, Dennis Hansen for his Michigan Trails Atlas book (not sure what category).

Jeffrey Turck, co-founding member of PMBA which became the MMBA, still involved in the sport on a daily basis as the owner of Dexter Bike and Sport.

Tim Collins. Without Tim there would be no Pontiac Lake MTB. We were in serious danger of losing access there. But Tim sat down with the DNR and the horse people and made a plan to separate the horse and mountain bike trails and got the labor together and got it done.

I remember doing trail work in the woods and Tim's knees were so bad he limped around working hard and I was so inspired. I always think of him when I do something hard. He just plowed right through it.

He also created great singletrack design. I really don't know what else to say except that he inspired, led, mediated with hostile forces, rode like the wind and did it all with class.

I will never forget that.
