\\What?
The a2 enduros are non-sanctioned non-supported fun group rides where riders have a chance to look local trails in a different light, with a focus on technical and downhill terrain. The ride will highlight four "stages" that will take riders, depending on fitness and skill, between 2-3 minutes to accomplish.
The A2 enduros are not a competition. Rather, they are a way for local riders to get a glimpse of what a stage racing event format, already tremendously popular in Europe and other parts of North America, would be like.
Who?
Riders who climb at their own pace and live to descend will appreciate the enduro format. We will climb up everything we ride. However, this is Southeastern Michigan, so there isn't *that* much climbing. Expect a similar amount of riding/climbing to Murrary Lake or PLRA.
The stages will each favor a different type of bicycle/rider. Run what you brung. Every single stage is rideable on a rigid 29er, or an 8" downhill bike. At the last enduro, we had both kinds of bike piloted by skilled riders.
That being said, one of the stages is, in my opinion, the most technical piece of trail in Southeastern MI. As such, riders can choose to participate in a 3 stage "mini" enduro, or the full 4 stage event. Unlike a true enduro, riders will have the opportunity to push/walk this stage first to assess whether they have the proficiency to ride the stage in their individual judgement. This is just for fun, and everyone should be safe and ride within their ability. I would classify it as within the realm of an intermediate rider on a capable mountain bike. I think a capable bike is a 5-6" full suspension bike with a tire that actually bites the soil, and rims that are not made of tinfoil.
When?
July 15th, in the afternoon. Depending on how many riders show up, expect this to take 3-4 hours. For those that attended the last event, this one has more tech, more speed, two different stages, two returning stages (hint, not the ridge trail) and the transfers between stages will be more nice, flowy singletrack on the local loop.
Can I help?
Yeah. Please! Interested photoags, video, POV cameras, stopwatches, and nice FRS two way radios (3-4) are always needed.
please post your thoughts, comments and interest.
