Morning Ride Nutrition

Where to ask questions on riding skills, training, nutrition, and bike repair

How long are you working out for? Most morning training rides, I hit the rollers/road on an empty stomch, maybe some black coffee. This is for like a 90 minute workout. Then I just eat a normal breakfast after.

Perhaps for something around 2+ hours, then nutrition may come into play. You might be able to start empty, then snack on the go as well.

Race days and events are different animals all together.

On a related note, did you know that it takes the brain two hours to completely wake up?

I first found this article several years ago on another site, but this is the only place I can find it now: http://www.canada.com/story_print.html? ... ee7ae4aa93

Okay, well, let's just leave it at, "It takes up to two hours for your brain to completely wake up. Now, go eat your eggs...and don't forget the coffee."

A quick note to add about the Kashi Go Lean Crunch. Delicious cereal, and it is good for you. Be forewarned. Some people, if not most, experience brutal side effects after eating it. I get some serious stomach cramping, and of course, insane amounts of gas. This may or may not be your result after eating it, but anyone who has not tried it should be warned.

A small bottle of Coke, mini Cliff bar and some circus peanuts. It got me through the weekend at Brown County! :D

Haha, I had similar effects after eating those Fiber One granola bars... they're delicious and seemed like a good, cheap alternative to the normal energy bars etc... but man, it was just not worth it.

Kashi Go Lean Crunch gives me lots of gas. I just have to fart a lot while riding then.

How much boost do you get from farting? Would it be appropriate to refer to Kashi as "rocket fuel?"

If we ride together this year I hope to lead. After all, I never fart.

And yes, I was referring to candy circus peanuts. I have witnesses. :)

This is a blatant lie.

Like, little farts, or the ones where you have to peel a cheek off the saddle when climbing farts?

Considering what eggs do to me, Kashi seems like a bad choice!

Well, you're the one with a hot girlfriend who travels around the country and races downhill with you, and you have a badass little ripper. Those are two major wins :)

And, I'm the dumber one, because I think it's ok to spend $1800 a year on books.
