Stans No Tubes Sealant: How to use?

Postby adroit rider » March 10th, 2003, 10:56 pm

Just got some Stan's to help resolve a leaky tubeless rim/tire combo. No instructions were included so I am looking for some pointers before I waste any time.

Seems like I just unseat half the tire, dump in a scoop, rub it around, reseat the tire and inflate.

Any tricks that might save a head ache?

Thanks!

It's just that simple, except ride for 30 minutes right after to get sealant worked in. You can put soapy water on the outside of tire to check progress.

take off the old rim tape, wrap the tape that comes with the kit around the rim very tight, take your time and make sure you insert the new rim strip straight and that it is beaded tight all the way around the rim,,install the tire on one side and put in a cup or so of the sealent, finish installing the tire and rotate it..unscrew the presta valve and use some compressed air with a small hose over the presta valve to inflate,,, chances are the tires will leak a little bit until you ride for awhile on them.. i just put over 200 miles on mine out in arizona and they worked awesome

Tituswhip,

He's using this on a tubeless wheelset. He didn't buy the kit, just the sealant. Many tubeless riders use Stan's as added protection for air loss and sharp pointy objects that have a way of spoiling your day!!!
