Fantasy DH league

Postby mtbfree » March 6th, 2012, 3:22 pm

Hey, here is some super-nerd fun to be had at the Dirt Magazine website... They're running a "fantasy world-cup downhill" league. It's free to sign up and if you win the overall championship, you get a Trek Slash 8 freeride bike. You can also create and join private leagues to compete amongst friends. It would be fun to get an MMBA/CRRA/Michigan private league going, but there are only 10 days left to sign up (the first round of the world cup is on March 17th). Post up here if you're interested. If we get 10 or more people to sign up, I'll create a private league for MMBA and post the PIN number here with instructions for joining it.

The rules are that you get to build a DH team of 5 racers, with a budget of 1,000,000 british pounds (Dirt is apparently based in the UK). You can join as many private leagues as you want, but your team will be the same in all of them. Here's a link to sign up:

P.S. - my team name is "Flatland DH"

Alright! Michigan Militia is the league to join! After you set up your team, you'll see the option to "Enter a new league," so just click on that, go to where it says join an existing league and enter 830 for the pin and you're all set.

 Are you my personal little cheerleader on here always following me around to point out your disdain for myself and my posts?

I'm pretty sure I can call two of my riding buddies dorks on a joking level .... at least last I checked.

Registered! Team is selected and I'm sitting in the "Pending Members" section of the Private League section for our league.

I think this is going to be a lot of fun, I was looking at the other teams and we have a good spread of riders - I would have thought there would have been more overlap. Too bad we can't get together at a bar somewhere to watch a couple races.

Yup, I'd be down. We're also thinking of trying to get a group to go to Windham to race/watch....I also have a 3 hr DVD with all of the race runs/highlights from last year if anyone wants to drink beer eat pizza and watch em

If you have some time to kill and want to watch people shred on bikes, check out the two clay porter films on itunes: the tipping point and 3 minute gaps. They have lots of action and great rider introspective on the 2009 and 2010 worldcup season, and the battles between riders. Highly recommended, and you'll be hooked on worldcup after!

FYI: I thought your post was funny, hence the lol. Sorry you feel so important as to be singled out. I apparently caught you at a bad time. Come back in a week and review, mmmkay. :icon_thumleft:

Ok I'm in....My team strategy was to just do the random pick until I found an attractive female rider. I like my odds
