Are the Shanty Creek trails still there that the pros rode on in the 90s?

How about the VASA. I stayed up in the area a couple of years ago. Road the VASA and went to Shorts all on the same day so they must be close!

I used to attend the Norba races up at Shanty Creek/Schuss mountain and rode the racing course while I was up there one year which was awesome,
but I heard that most of it went away when the developers moved in to expand the golf courses. Bummer. Haven't been up there since.
Big M and VASA aren't too far from there and NCT (section A) are cool. Nice area. Stop in at a local bike shop and see what's been developed lately ?
I love mountain biking because I haven't found anything that is more FUN !!
Of all the paths you choose in life....make sure some of them are DIRT !!

Commuting miles in 2012 = 1065
Total road/trail miles = 2800
Number of rides = 152
Trails ridden = 28 different in MI, 2 in Oregon

1) Hanson Hills is a very worthwhile ride in my opinion. Just minutes West from I-75/Grayling exit.

2) Avalanche Preserve in Boyne City - Awesome!! Just rode it for the first time this weekend. Lots of climbing, but great flow and the view/reward at the top is incredible - overlooks Lake Charlevoix. The ride back down was an added bonus. Great Trail.

Kipp Rd. NCT. Just outside Petosky is a great ride. Some nice climbs with rewarding decents. also
really beautiful country, you will most likely not see a soul.

There is a new trail system in Bellaire. http://www.gtrlc.org/protected-land/gla ... ural-area/. The trail is pretty fresh, and they are adding more trail everyday. I rode about 85% of the trails last week and I ended up with 5.5miles. They plan on having 20mi of single track when it is all done. Vasa Single Track off of Supply rd is good, and I think there's a section of the NCT near Kalkaska that is pretty good, but I have not rode this yet. The other mentioned trails are very good as well, but a little farther from Bellaire.
